Jowls

Jowls

Sagging Jowls and a crepy neck are one of the first signs of ageing, they start to form as we lose collagen and elasticity of the skin. With age, most of us get jowls, showing as saggy skin, below the jawline and under the chin.

What can be done to tighten the skin on the jowls and neck?

Needlework and Threadlifts.

  1. Nefititi lift, using muscle relaxing injections, can help to reverse the signs of ageing along your lower face, jaw, and neck.

How does a Nefertiti lift work?

A Nefertiti Lift is when tiny amounts of botulinum toxin, is injected along the jawline and into the muscles in the neck that run vertically from under your chin the collarbone. The injections relax the muscles that pull the neck down, allowing the neck to look lifted, in this area can provide a subtle lift, helping you look younger, refresher, smoother and less wrinkly.

This procedure works extremely well for many people, depending on the condition of the skin.

The results last for a few months, (usually 3-5) and may help you delay having more invasive treatments.

Costs from £350

  1. Using Fillers, as a liquid facelift, sometimes called ‘a nonsurgical facelift’, dermal fillers injected along the jawline can give a stronger jawline, help to make the jawline look straight, rather than saggy. A Liquid facelift can be a good option when you are just starting to sag. You can get swelling and bruising from muscle relaxing injections and dermal fillers.

  2. Needlework, Thread lifts, a minimally invasive alternate to lifting sagging jowls

There are many different types of threads used to lift and define the face, nose and brow, PDO, Silhouette Soft Lift, both dissolvable and Spring Lift, a permanent suture to name but a few.

Threads- they lift, they tighten, help to stimulate collagen and contour your face.

PDO threads are excellent for stimulating collagen, helping to thicken and firm crepy skin, they can define of the jaw line as well as help to lift saggy jowls, and the mid and lower face.

After a thorough consultation, including your medical history and what you are looking to achieve, we can discuss the options available to you, sometimes, this may be do nothing.

If PDO Threads are an option for you, this is what can be expected.

Your face is cleansed and you will have a topical local anaethetic applied or injected into the skin, discuss this with the practitioner. PDO threads are inserted under your skin, through a needle hole, and then pushed through the tissues by a cannula, that is a blunt ended needle, so there is less bruising. When the thread reaches its destination, it is pulled gently, and then the cannula will be removed from the skin.

To achieve the required lift, you may need 8-16 threads, your practitioner will talk you through the process.

The threads may need to be smoothed with a gentle massage to prevent any dimpling. Once inserted, the threads give three different effects.

  • An Immediate lift.
  • Collagen stimulation and production which helps reduce fine lines and smooths texture, more elasticity of the skin, making skin thicker, firmer and younger looking.
  • Skin tightening as the fat tissues are contracted due to the threads.

As the threads start to dissolve naturally, cellular rejuvenation is stimulated and the lift will last for around 12 months.

Expect some bruising swelling immediately after treatment, immediate results in this patient can be seen.

Costs from £999-£1800

Silhouette Soft Lift

The treatment takes under an hour, and offers long-lasting results. The quality of Silhouette Soft threads and the procedures we recommend create high levels of patient satisfaction.

Silhouette Soft gives you results that last

When it comes to treating the visible signs of ageing, there are many options. But there’s only one that instantly corrects sagging skin, with results that last up to 24 months.

Is Silhouette Soft safe?

Silhouette Soft suspension sutures are made from PLLA and PLGA (Poly L Lactic Acid & Poly Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid), both utilised safely in medicine for decades.

How long does Silhouette Soft last?

Long-term effects come from the body’s foreign body reaction, which stimulates collagen synthesis from the activation of the fibroblasts present in the skin. This stimulation occurs in the tissue area surrounding the suture and cones. Collagen production is naturally reduced with ageing and therefore this ‘re-stimulation’ is pivotal to providing long-term improvement of the face and neck contours.

Are the effects of Silhouette Soft immediate?

Through the repositioning of the fat deposits and elevation of the skin, Silhouette Soft restores the face and neck shape and redefines specifically cheek and jawline contours. The suspension suture and cone technology repositions the skin and fat, particularly around the cheeks and jawline, to give definition and providing immediate effects.

Does Silhouette Soft have any side effects?

Silhouette Soft can cause a minimal inflammatory reaction, due to the insertion of a foreign body into the skin. This is a well-known reaction and common to all minimally invasive aesthetic treatments. In some cases, patients can experience minor pain, swelling and/or bruising. If you are unsure about any potential side effects please contact your treating healthcare provider.

What is the recovery period for Silhouette Soft?

The recovery period for Silhouette Soft can vary depending on a variety of factors, and can be anywhere between a few days and up to two weeks.

What aftercare is needed for Silhouette Soft thread lifts?

There are a variety of post-treatment recommendations to aid in recovery, as people vary, and to minimise any potential negative effects on the Silhouette Soft suspension sutures. Your practitioner will be able to advise the best aftercare after your Silhouette Soft treatment.

Costs from £2500-£2800

Depending on the type of procedure required, we may be able to offer you treatment on the same day as your  consultation. This, of course is, only if the treatment is non-invasive, if this minimally or more invasive, we would need to schedule an appointment at a convenient time for you.

NeckTite

NeckTite is an excellent treatment for someone who wants to remove the fat pad under the chin and reduce jowling, without surgery or anyone detecting what has been done! As results happen over time, it looks more as if you have lost weight than had a procedure.

NeckTite™ uses Radio Frequencey energy and microsuction, specifically to gently remove fat pads from under the chin and jowls, then tightens the skin laxity on the jowls and neck, as the tissue heating produces lipocoagulation, internal tissue heating and contraction. By combining this energy, the results give a long lasting tighter neck and jawline.

FaceTite / NeckTite is a treatment we offer to patients who do not want a surgical face and neck lift.

How does it work?

After a full consultation, examination and alternative treatments discussed, the procedure is explained in full.

Especially the time frame during which the improvement will be seen, of three to six months with a continual improvement over a 12 month period.

Before the procedure, photographs of the areas are taken.

The patient is consented for the procedure.

The patient is prepared for a local anaesthetic day case procedure.

The face, neck and lower jaw area are cleaned with skin antiseptic.

The areas are anaesthetised with local blocks.

The area is then infiltrated with a local anaesthetic mixture.

Tiny incisions are made by the lower ear/ jaw line and just under the chin.

Sterile ultrasound gel is applied to the skin and the FaceTite probe is inserted, in the subcutaneous tissue.

At this point the radiofrequency is activated to reach the desired internal temperature.

The areas are kept clean with antiseptic and gel applied to the skin to allow smooth sliding of the external probe.

After the treatment the incisions are closed with steri strips and dressings. A compression head band is applied for three continuous days. Oral painkillers are given to the patient.

Three days after the procedure, the patient can remove the compression garment and use it for the following two weeks, just at night.

The swelling starts to recedes over the next two to four weeks.

The results are seen over time and become evident over the next three months as the ‘shrink-wrap’ effect becomes visible.

Results last around five years, but as with any procedure your genetics, lifestyle choices and overall skin condition can affect the longevity of your results.

Costs from £2800-£3500
